My portafolio

This is a mood board that inspired from the hippie theme that was around in the 1970s decade. within this decade there are different colours bright colours like lime green, teal calm blue, soft peach, maroon etc. This mood board includes different styles of clothing and accessories that was around at that time from this research I found out that they mostly used techniques like palettes and gathering and it also shows me that they mostly wore bows on their garments. From this research i have also found out that in that decade of the hippies they had a floral repetitive print on their clothes. I think that this mood board shows a lot of information how the hippie dressed like in that decade and also it shows a great example of what kind colours they wore in that decade.

This is a flat illustration that was inspired from the mood board which is based on the hippie fashion that was around the 1970s. Within this mood board I have used different type of colours such as the lime green, clam blue, turquoise green and maroon. Within this flat illustration there were different techniques inspired from my mood board for examples buttons, gathering, palettes and pockets. This illustration also includes patterns the hippies mostly had on their garments like floral patterns that were sometimes mixed with geometric shapes which I then implemented in my final design. In my opinion this illustration is untidy and it can be improved if it was drawn firmly and delicately and also this flat iullestruation does not link to my fashion that is becuase in the start of the project  their were some confusion on what the hippie fashion included. Due to that reason my flat illestruation includes lots of designs such as the bows, buttons, blouses, collers and skirts that were around in the 1920s and 30s. This flat illestruation can be improved if I do good research of my fashion and then get images of that link back to that fashion.

This is the samples that I made using the inspiration of my flat illustration and my mood board. Within this samples I used as colour I can that matched my decade fashion for example colours like red, brown, yellow, beige and blue. I have used different techniques to present my work and these techniques include palettes, gathering, pockets and buttons. These samples that I have made include different patterns like floral and geometric shapes. In my opinion I think these samples are very untidy because they have treads which are tearing of the fabric. These samples were also peer marked in their opinion this samples really matched the theme because it used relevant colours that matched my theme.

This is my final design and within this design I have used a variety of colours like green, red, cream, maroon and these entire colours link back to my research because in the early 1970s the hippies were not as groovy as were in the mid-1970s. With this design I have included different techniques that were around at that times the hippies mostly wore buttons on their garments and also they often gathered their blouses a lot. In this design I have added an extra material that links back to my decade that is because it has floral designs on it and also it has calm colour on it that the early hippies wore. in my opinion i think that this dress is really appropriate for my theme because it has designs and patterns on it that link back to my research.

Punk Fashion vs Make Do and Mend

Punk fashion started in the 1970s and it was widely influenced by designers like Vivienne Westwood and Jean Paul Gaultier punk fashion was a style that started from outgoing rebellious teenagers that were quiet against religion and politics they also wanted to be different from their parents. The punk fashion included piercing, ripped clothes, leather jackets, fingerless gloves etc.

The make and mend fashion was fashion was set up in the 1939 and it ended around 1945. And this fashion started because they wanted to get women to fix their clothes and make new clothes out of old material. They started this fashion because in the WW2 there was a rationing that government invited because there not enough food or clothes for the country so this trend to get women to fix or remake their garments with old fabric.

I prefer the punk fashion because it very funky and also I really like the way they tie safety pins to their clothes and their idea of not caring about what people think about them.

My favorite Fashion

My number one favourite designer is Elsa Schiaparelli that is because she mostly designs dresses and I really like the way she’s really unique and also the colures that she uses in her work.

My second favorite designer is Desigual Cirque du Soleil that is because her work is very funky and she uses a lot of bright colures on her work and also her garments can be worn casually.

Galliano Circus Collection 1997 is the third best that is because it has some good designs that are very inspirational and unique.

Bauhaus Triadic Ballet is a designer that I dislike that is because his designs are very unattractive and also the colures that this designer uses are mostly black and white and within my opinion they are very boring.
